Infrastructure

Mobility and Communication

As of July, 2006, there are existing 114 vehicles against a total requirement of 183 which have been identified by the TFD. Of these, 27 vehicles are subject to replacement. At the division level (including range offices), there are 71 four wheelers (average six per division).

All the divisional offices have one or more telephone sets, but there are none at the range offices. In the existing situation all the divisional offices have Radio Telephone set which consists of antenna, fixed station and radio handsets. There are 48 fixed stations, 34 vehicle mounted wireless sets and 57 hand held sets along with antennas are the existing wireless network equipment in the TFD. These instruments are used from TFD HQ to beat office level. However, the number of handheld instruments at the beat and range levels is only 18. The modern telecommunication system is essential for the field level stuff for project implementation program. At the range office level and beat office level, some of the range offices and beat offices are within radio telephone network through handsets and fixed station. The interoffice communication relies on VHF handset radio, telegrams or officers’ private mobile phone.
