Forest Administration

The Tripura Forest Department (TFD) is mandated to manage renewable natural resources of the State for sustained flow of goods and benefits to society in line with requirements of conservation. Initially, forestry development, logging, soil conservation, and plantation in government forest land were the main activities at TFD. After the introduction of National Forest Policy, the focus has shifted to ecological security, environmental stability and forest for livelihoods. The shift in policy compelled TFD to offer livelihood options to forest fringe dwellers through Joint Forest Management.

The administrative structure of TFD is as follows

Above the PCCF, Principal Secretary charged to the TFD, minister in charge responsible to the department are situated.
